Casey loved to make toys out of everything he could get in his mouth from the very beginning.
As a part of Casey's ongoing training, I had spent many miles driving horses for our family's carriage company. I wanted to train Casey to drive, pull a sled, or some kind of a cart. I had the opportunity to use an indoor arena not far from my home. This video is the start of the project. We played for about 3 hours, and by the end of our time, Casey was ground driving beautifully with lots of hope for the future.
One afternoon Casey was inside, resting away from the insects and flies outside. As I entered the barn noticed him sleeping, I got a clean towel and laid on the floor. (Disclaimer Do Not try this at home. Not all horses are good-natured and except unusual situations.)
Everyone needs a snack every once in a while. Casey's regular routine as I finish getting the barn set for the day. I would snap his long lead rope on him and send him out to munch in the yard before I would take him to his field.
Over time the scope of Casey's allergies became vast. I had to keep a stock of clean towels at the ready if a quick bath was required. Casey loved to play with the pile of clean laundry.
From early on, I would unlatch the Dutch door on Casey's barn washroom, and it was his job to push the door open enough to go outside.
Before 2018, as Casey went in and out of the barn, he wanted to drink out of the utility sink. He was also famous for seeing how many things he could put in the sink and playing in the water. Wiping his mouth on the hand towel was part of his routine, and then chewing on his lead rope as he was waiting.
